Stitched Deer

I went and picked the fabrics today and found two really good pieces that slightly like wood. I then decided on the colour range of blue and turquoise. I like the fact that they each have different patterns but centre round the theme of plants. So far I've only completed the first antler.

Fabric cut outs.

I've decided to create a cut out image like I normally do but instead of using paper I'm going to use fabric.  First I drew out the image and decided where i would like the different colours to go.

I then placed the paper onto white jersey fabric and drew around it, then cut it out. This is my base to sew the other fabrics onto.

All I need to do now is go and pick out the other fabric.

Experimental Poetry

Today we had an experimental poetry lecture with Dr Catriona Ryan. One of the experiments she gave us to do was to write using (in my case) my left hand. We then had to write down what ever came into our heads and not try to force sentences. Here's what I came up with:

Fan belts float on draughts of green marshmallows tumbling weeds spiraling visions of violence.
Blue plumage of powdered cakes tower on toothpicks.

I've never really written any poetry but and I know this isn't really any good but I quite like it.

Time Spent

I haven't posted much on here over the summer, I've been mainly working to get money to tide me over as I do my masters. But I haven't been completely idle. Since my sister has moved into our uni house (when neither of us were working) we were sewing our first patchwork quilt. Obviously it's not the best looking quilt but I am extremely pleased with how it's looking as it is our first.

I also spent some time knitting, which I'm still carrying on with.

I made a stencil out of the lion doodle and then spray painted it onto a t-shirt. Sadly because I use white spray on a dark grey t-shirt it didn't come out that well. I am going to do another one but with black spray on a white top.
