Christmas

I haven't really posted anything I a while because I am now in my third year of uni and have a lot of work to do. So I've been trying to concentrate on that, and then I have been slightly stressed because of the way I felt some of my house mates have been acting towards me. I have now also got a temp job over christmas working in swarovski, which is good because of the money and experience but I have so much uni work that I need to do that it's slightly stressing me out. And I'm working christmas eve, boxing day and new years, which is a bit naff.

So to cheer myself up i've done a bit of window shopping whilst walking to and from work. I've seen a waist high gold framed mirror, it looks amazing! The only thing is that it costs £300. I really shouldn't waste my money on something that isn't a necessity but I absolutely adore it and will regret it in years to come.

I've also had a  cheeky look on line at anthropologie , here are somethings i'm taunting myself with:

I love how all the things that catch my eye and I want are either jewellery of accessories for a home. Ah I can't wait to get my own house! It's going to be filled with random things.

I absolutely adore Dougie from the band McFly!!

Von Trash Jewellery

I found this awesome website Von Trash. They do really cool plastic necklaces that come in a range of colours.  I'm going to badger my mum to get me some for Christmas.

Birds of Pattern

I love these origami birds that one of my house mates gave me! They have really nice patterns on them and are hanging on this really cool mirror (charity shop find) that is above my bed.

Earring Collection

I have a lot of earrings even though I have only one ear pierced (due to the other one getting infected and closing up before I put an earring in it). I hang my long dangly ones on my lamp because I don't have any where else to put them. All my studs go in a small trinket box which I got from a shop in Tenby in South West Wales called Equinox. I absolutely love it! I was unsure about buying it but I'm so glad I did.

Flamingo Skeleton

I absolutely adore these garden ornaments. They are so much better than the original flamingos. I so want a pair!

Stag Stencils

I stole one of my house-mates camera and finally got round to taking photos of the three deer stencils I've done.

Sorry about the state of the last one, I live in the top of the house and the wall it's stuck on is slopping.

Labyrinth

I adore the film Labyrinth, it's amazing. I found this illustration in the style of Alphonse Mucha, it's by Karen Hallion. I love it!

Brian Dettmer

Brian Dettmer is an artist that I looked at last year for one of my essays. He finds old hardback books with illustrations inside them, then cuts away the front cover and pages to uncover them.

whilst I was researching in the library for my new project, (I was looking at bird skulls) I came across this:

I have a fascination with mounted animal heads but because it's not very PC any more people are coming
up with more interesting ways to create them, like making them out of pieces of wood that you slot together
but these are by for the most intriguing and interesting to look at.

This is not my picture but I really like it. I'm not sure who created it but I got it from this website.

Notebook

I like looking at notebooks and my sister collects patterned ones. They usually have really interesting covers. Of course the better looking ones cost more money. But this really simple one caught my eye.

Mirrors

So far in my room I have four large mirrors, but I would like to have a large collection and have them all hanging on one wall.

I love this bit in the film.

Urban Outfitters

I recently went to Urban Outfitters and I saw their collection of patterned plates for sale. They are absolutely amazing, so pretty.

They also sell tea cups and saucers, sugar pots, tea pots and milk jugs.
They are on sale at the moment on the website, I can't wait till I move out of this student house and into my own, then I'm going to fill it with things like this.

Acrylicana Shoes

These shoes are absolutely amazing I wish I could have all of them. Sadly with my lack of funds I can't even justify buying one pair. You can look at Acrylicana here and buy the shoes from here.

Edit to linked URL. Splash page fixed as well. It’s too difficult to update this via phone. x.x

Acrylicana shop has moved to Apparel Dynasty! :) www.appareldynasty.com
It is ready, working, and has FABULOUS party party time and poison apples pumps. Yay!

Enjoy. :)

Another Deer Stencil.

I haven't done much stencilling over the summer. In fact I only cut one, another deer. I'm really sorry about the quality of the picture I had to take it with my webcam because my camera is cocking up and wont turn on.
I'll repost another picture either when I get a new camera or if I knick one of my friends.

Faux Pas

A friend of mine holds an event night one a month in a club called monkey in Swansea (It's called Faux Pas, If your interested look for it on Facebook.). He asked me to create a design for a t-shirt, he wanted it to be a fox because people keep mispronouncing the name.

This is the photo I used for reference (It's so cute, I want one!). He also said he want it to be drawn in the style of candy skulls and to have a diamond in the centre of its forehead. This is the final drawing I gave to him.

I'm really pleased with how it has turned out. I sent it to him in April and it's finally been printed. It looks awesome.

Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger ft. Christina Aguilera

I absolutely love this song, It's amazing!! Also the lead singer is really hot.

New Uni Project

I haven't been on here in ages, I wish I could say that I've been really busy but that would be lying. I could back to uni on the 4th so I'm starting a new project about birds and I've decided that I want to start it off by looking at how animals play a part in different mythologies. I've looked at Celtic, Norse, Greek, and at the moment I'm looking at Native American. Whilst looking for pictures I came across these and thought they were amazing.

I've bought the pocket watch, woo! But I have to wait like 24 days for it to arrive. But yay I've got the watch.

I want!

I want, I want! Its off ebay and costs 99p with £4.99 postage and packaging. Which isn't much but I'm low on funding and don't really like buying things off the internet with my card. I did ask my mum to buy it but she's being a meanie and wont order for me.

Stencil

At the moment I have a thing for deers and I created a stencil of a deer's head and spray painted it on to a t-shirt.
I would have also put a picture of the stencil up but my camera has now decided it will turn it's self on but then straight back off again. Bloody annoying.

Alice In Wonderland

Within six months of the copyright licence expiring on Alice In Wonderland a number of people had already produced their own illustrations. So far none of them can compare with John Tenniel's original illustrations.
41. At this the whole pack rose up ...29. It would twist itself ...
But there are a few that have caught my eye like Arthur Rackham. I love the muted colours that have been used and how he has styled the characters differently to have Tenniel did.
Another Illustrator who's style is completely different to Tenniel and Rackham is Anne Bachelier. I love the way the use of water colour has made the illustrations look.
The other illustrator who I think has made the images his own is Rodney Matthews.
I like the composition of his pieces and the way in which he has drawn them.
